Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission issued updated advisory guidelines to clarify the position on the collection, use or disclosure of NRIC or other national identification numbers and provide guidance on how organisations can comply with the new rules. The guidelines will take effect on 1 September 2019.
The Personal Data Protection Commission launched a public consultation discussing proposed amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 to provide for (a) when and how an organisation may be required to transmit personal data to another organisation upon an individual's request and (b) how organisations may rely on business innovation purposes to use and retain personal data.
The Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) released a consultation paper that discusses the key objectives, spectrum allocation, rights duration and regulatory obligations in the deployment of 5G mobile services and networks in Singapore. IMDA plans to facilitate efficient 5G deployment from 2020 onwards, supporting the growth of the telecommunication sector.
